Ms Anna Cheung is the Assistant Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the statutory organisation dedicated to promoting Hong Kong’s trade. She oversees the Council’s international and mainland activities that promote Hong Kong’s service industries, merchandise trade, and innovation and technology.    Ms Cheung joined the Council as an Executive Trainee in 1997. From 2000 to 2002, she was posted to the Council’s branch office in Milan, spearheading the Council’s promotional programmes in Italy and promoting Hong Kong as a trading partner of Italy. As Associate Director from 2010-2019, she has held various positions in the Council including serving the Exhibitions division, where she managed the special events, project planning and operation of over 30 annual fairs. Her work also extended to overseeing the promotion of creative industries, ICT, as well as logistics and infrastructure related services.    In 2020, Ms Cheung was appointed as Director, Service Promotion, overseeing the promotion strategies and activities related to Hong Kong’s service industries and the Belt and Road Initiatives. During the period, she launched a series of events promoting Hong Kong’s green-related services and biomedical sector including the Asia Summit on Global Health. She is also responsible to promote Hong Kong as a two-way global investment hub though strengthening the Council’s deal-making platforms.    Ms Cheung is a graduate of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Mr Edmond Lam received his B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Hong Kong. He also obtained an MBA and became a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in the subsequent years. Mr Lam has an extensive experience in the industry. He joined the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2001 and headed the Technology Transfer and IP Commercialization section of the Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office with the responsibility to explore and identify innovations and technologies in the University, protect the IP and facilitate collaboration and IP commercialization through the industry and technology ventures. Mr Lam joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2022 -2024 as the Associate Director of the Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services and was responsible for the IP management, licensing and commercialization of 6 CUHK’s InnoHK Centers covering health, biomedicine, robotics and artificial intelligence.  He has developed professional working relationships with leading institutions and renowned industrial incorporations and associations. He was also the Technology and Innovation Consultant of the Zhuhai High-tech Industrial Development Zone.   Mr Lam currently is the Director of Knowledge Transfer of Hong Kong Baptist University and in charge of all intellectual properties protection, commercialization, knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship issues.

Derek Lau joined the Intellectual Property Department (IPD) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2012. Before joining IPD, Derek Lau had worked in private practice in the intellectual property (IP) area for over 10 years. He has all-rounded IP experience including prosecuting trade mark applications, oppositions and invalidations, drafting patent specifications and prosecuting patent applications, handling IP related court actions, and advising on IP transactions. Besides having a LL.B. degree, Derek Lau had obtained a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Minnesota, USA, which provides him with the engineering knowledge to handle patent work. He also passed the Qualification Examination for China Patent Agents. Derek Lau had been involved in the preparation and implementation of the Original Grant Patent system and the “patent box” regime. In his current role as the Assistant Director of the IPD, Derek Lau leads the Advisory Team in providing civil legal advisory service on IP matters to government bureaus and departments, oversees the international and regional cooperation in the IP area, and carries out the initiatives related to IP trading.

David Leung is the Head of Smart System and Project Development at the Office of Knowledge Transfer at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). In his role, he leads and strategizes knowledge transfer initiatives, including commercialization and realization of HKUST's research outputs, promotion of university-industry collaboration, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship development.Prior to joining HKUST, David served as an Assistant Director for Project and Program Development for 15 years at the Hong Kong R&amp;D Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&amp;D Centre (LSCM), which was established by the HKSAR Government. He led the promotion and implementation of the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) and initiated R&amp;D projects across various stakeholders, including the government, public organizations, researchers, and industry partners.David obtained BEng, MPhil, and PhD degrees in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management from the University of Hong Kong. He furthered his academic pursuits by completing an MBA degree from the University of Manchester, UK.In recognition of David's contributions to the government's effort in combating COVID-19, he was honored with the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service in 2020.

Ms Lin is responsible for overseeing HKPC’s secretariat service for Government funding schemes. She is tasked with leading, integrating, cross-fertilising and leveraging the funding schemes to upgrade and transform the industries as well as proactively pulsing enterprise and industry needs, developing and enhancing the schemes to serve industry-wide business. Concurrent with her role as Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) (Interim), Professor Stephanie Ma is also Jimmy and Emily Tang Professor in Molecular Genetics in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed). She is also a Principal Investigator in the State Key Laboratory of Liver Research. Previously, she served as the Associate Vice-President (Research and Innovation) at HKU, the Assistant Dean (Innovation and Technology Transfer) at HKUMed and the Associate Director of the School of Biomedical Sciences at HKUMed. Professor Ma holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree from the University of British Columbia and a Ph.D. degree from HKU. She has over 20 years of experience in scientific research, teaching and administration in academia in both Canada and Hong Kong, with interest in cancer and biomedical sciences. Specifically, her research focuses on elucidating how a de-differentiated, stemness-like cellular state in cancer contributes to therapeutic resistance and disease recurrence.
