Indonesian Intellectual Property Attorneys Association

Dwi Anita Daruherdani is a registered Intellectual Property Consultant with Indonesia's Ministry of Law and an advocate registered with PERADI since 1994. She specializes in Intellectual Property (IP) and Dispute Resolution, holding a Bachelor of Laws (S.H.) from the University of Indonesia (1992) with a thesis on the changes to the Trademark Law No. 21 of 1961 from an international law perspective. In 2001, she earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Franklin Pierce School of Law, New Hampshire, USA. With over 30 years of experience in Intellectual Property, Dwi has established a significant presence in the field both in Indonesia and regionally. She contributed to the drafting of the Academic Manuscript for the Draft Law on Industrial Design in 2013. Currently, she serves as a Senior Partner in Intellectual Property and Technology at Foster Legal. Previously, she operated her own law firm, Daruherdani Attorneys, since 2007 and has worked for several prestigious law firms in Indonesia, including Amroos &amp; Partners (1992–1994), HHP Law Firm (1994–2004), and as a Partner at Rahayu &amp; Partners in affiliation with HFW (2017–2020). Dwi is actively involved in various Intellectual Property associations in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, holding positions such as Chairman of the Indonesian Intellectual Property Consultant Association (AKHKI), Vice President of the ASEAN Intellectual Property Association (ASEAN IPA), Country Head for the ASEAN IPA Group in Indonesia, Vice Chairman of the Intellectual Property Arbitration and Mediation Body (BAMHKI), Treasurer of the Indonesia Hong Kong Business Association (IDHKBA), and Honorary Advisor for the Hong Kong Business IP Asia Forum. She also serves on the Supervisory Council for Intellectual Property Consultants (2024–2027), overseeing and guiding 1,059 Indonesian Intellectual Property Consultants, and acts as a panellist in Domain Name Dispute Resolution.

Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zeki Durak was born in Eskişehir, Türkiye, where he completed his primary, secondary and high school education. He graduated from the Department of Food Engineering at Akdeniz University in 2003. Having pursued an interest in several scientific disciplines throughout his education, he completed a project supported by TÜBİTAK’s Scientist Training Group (BAYG) during his undergraduate studies, focusing on extending the shelf life of mushrooms grown in Antalya by coating them with edible films. As a continuation of this research, Prof. Durak joined Cornell University in the United States as a visiting researcher. He subsequently completed his master’s and doctoral studies at Cornell University with a scholarship awarded by the University. During his master’s studies, he conducted research on the use of conventional photographic films incorporating silver halide crystal technology for detecting pathogenic toxins and microorganisms. His work explored the potential use of conventional photographic films—which had experienced a decline in their traditional applications following the advent of digital cameras—in the field of biosensors. During his doctoral studies, Prof. Durak conducted research in microbiology, molecular biology and biotechnology. He subsequently provided support to various companies in the United States and Türkiye in the areas of R&amp;D and innovation technologies. In 2012, he returned to Türkiye and contributed to the establishment of the Department of Food Engineering at Yıldız Technical University. Applying innovative thinking throughout his professional career, Prof. Durak received numerous national and international awards. These included the “Academic Staff Member with the Highest Number and Total Budget of Projects” award at Yıldız Technical University. He also taught courses in his areas of expertise, including entrepreneurship. From 2020 to 2023, Prof. Durak served as Secretary General of the Bursa Eskişehir Bilecik Development Agency (BEBKA). During his tenure, he contributed to supporting projects aimed at advancing the region’s development strategies and economy, launching the region’s first venture capital fund call, and strengthening its entrepreneurial ecosystem.  Prof. Durak is also an inventor and holds patents for commercially successful products in his fields of expertise. He has authored numerous academic publications and studies in related areas. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zeki Durak was appointed President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, an affiliated institution of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and one of the driving forces behind Türkiye’s National Technology Initiative, pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 446, published in the Official Gazette No. 32332 of 6 October 2023. Prof. Durak is fluent in English. He is married and has two children.

Dr. KIM Yong Sun was appointed as the inaugural Minister of the Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP) of the Republic of Korea, officially assuming office on November 4, 2025. As a distinguished leader in the field of intellectual property (IP), he has devoted more than three decades to advancing IP policy, protection, and international cooperation.  Prior to his ministerial appointment, Dr. Kim served as President of the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency (KOIPA) beginning in 2022, where he advanced national and international efforts to strengthen IP protection.  Before his tenure at KOIPA, Dr. Kim gained extensive experience and played a leading role in developing Korea’s IP system at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO)—the predecessor of the MOIP. Since entering public service in 1994, he has held major leadership positions, most notably as Vice Commissioner of KIPO in 2020, as well as a range of key positions including Director-General of the Industrial Property Policy Bureau; Chief Presiding Administrative Judge of the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB); Chief of Staff of the Commissioner’s Office; Spokesperson; and Director of the International Cooperation Division. He also represented the Republic of Korea internationally as an IP Attaché at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva.  Dr. Kim earned his J.S.D. and LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from the Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and a B.A. of Urban Administration from the University of Seoul.

Andrew Liao is a Senior Counsel.  He has carried on an active legal practice as a barrister in Hong Kong since 1975, specializing in intellectual property in the fields of technology and innovation, brands and trade marks, cultural and creative industries including patents for inventions, designs, copyright, trade marks, trade names, passing off, trade secrets, confidential information, trade libel/injurious falsehood, copyright collective licensing, allied rights, pre-emptive remedies, and carrying on a general practice in other civil and commercial matters.  He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1989, and was appointed Deputy High Court Judge in 1990, and Recorder of the High Court in 2000-2002.   Apart from his professional legal practice, Andrew has continuously and actively participated in public service including those concerning intellectual property in Hong Kong.  As a member of the Law Reform Commission and its Copyright Sub-Committee, he was actively and closely involved in the reform of the copyright law, leading to the enactment of Hong Kong’s first substantive Copyright Ordinance in 1997.  He was the first Chairman of the Copyright Tribunal when it was established in 1997, and was Convenor of the Hong Kong Bar’s Task Force on Intellectual Property.  In 2001, Andrew was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS) by the HKSAR for his contribution to the reform of intellectual property laws in Hong Kong.  He was Vice-Chairman of the Working Group on Intellectual Property Trading, Chairman of the Steering Committee on Review of Intellectual Property Issues in the Innovation and Technology Sector, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Review of the Patent System, and Member of the Advisory Committee on Promotion of Arbitration.   Andrew has been actively promoting intellectual property, intellectual property trading, intellectual property arbitration and mediation, cultural and creative industries, innovation and technology in Hong Kong and the Mainland of China, and was the founder and organizer of the BIP Forum (Business of Intellectual Property Forum) as part of BODW (Business of Design Week) in Hong Kong from 2007 to 2011.  He was formerly Adjunct Professor of the School of Law at the City University of Hong Kong. Andrew was formally a Non-Official Member of the Executive Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Over the years, while actively practicing at the Bar, Mr. Liao has also actively participated in public service, having been appointed to a large number of public offices and bodies performing different public functions. For his distinguished exemplary contributions to the public service, he was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS) in 2008.  In 2022, he was award the Grand Bauhinia Medal (GBM) for his exemplary contributions to the public service, including the higher education sector, intellectual property, cultural and creative industries, as well as innovation technology development in Hong Kong.  Andrew is currently carrying on his professional legal practice as Senior Counsel in dispute resolutions covering litigation and arbitration. He had served as Chairman of the Council, and is now serving as Chairman of the Court of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  In 2023, he was conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Intellectual Property Rights Experts Group, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)

María Gloria Riethmuller, Chilean lawyer with a Master of Law (LL.M) in International Law from Heidelberg University and the University of Chile. With nearly a decade of expertise in international law and economic relations, specializing in intellectual property and international cooperation. Her career spans both the public and private sectors, including significant work as legal consultant for the Development Law Service at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations for Latin America and the Caribbean.  During her role as Advisor to the OECD Department at the Undersecretariat of International Economic Affairs (SUBREI), Ms. Riethmuller, served as Vice Chair of the Working Party of the Trade Committee of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development OECD, advancing Chile’s interests in the Working Party Agenda.  She currently serves as Advisor in the Intellectual Property Department at SUBREI, where she represents Chile at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and acts as national coordinator for WIPO cooperation projects. Ms María Gloria Riethmuller

Etienne Sanz de Acedo joined INTA on July 1, 2013. As CEO, Mr. Sanz de Acedo works with the Board of Directors and Officers to recommend, formulate, and implement policies and programs for the Association; is responsible for the administrative operation of the Association’s offices and the supervision of all staff; and is responsible for the development and administration of the annual budget. Before joining INTA, Mr. Sanz de Acedo was Head of Communications and Member of the President’s Cabinet at the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the EU’s intellectual property agency, where he was responsible for strategic communications and the agency’s corporate image and identity. Before joining the EUIPO, he practiced as an attorney in Spain and taught law at the University of Alicante, Spain. Mr. Sanz de Acedo holds a law degree from the University of Alicante, an LLM in European Community Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, and an executive MBA from Instituto de Empresa Business School in Madrid. A Spanish and French national, he speaks English, French, Italian, and Spanish.

Sune Stampe Sørensen is the Director General and CEO of the Danish Patent and Trademark Office under the Danish Ministry of Business and Competitiveness. World Intellectual Property Organization

Daren Tang has been the Director General of WIPO since 2020. He starts a second six-year mandate on October 1, 2026.  His vision is to transform the global intellectual property (IP) ecosystem from a set of legal rules into a business and financial asset, as well as a powerful catalyst for jobs, investments, enterprise growth and economic development. He has also pushed for IP to be more inclusive, bringing it closer to those innovating and creating on the ground, including youth, women, start-ups and SMEs.  Under his leadership, WIPO has developed tools, programs and initiatives to help inventors, researchers, entrepreneurs and creators use IP to bring their ideas to the market, while positioning WIPO as a forum and platform for international collaboration among its 194 Member States. A central focus has been keeping IP frameworks future-ready, ensuring WIPO's treaties, services, data platforms and tools serve the needs of tomorrow’s users. DG Tang has emphasized the use of data, research and insights to support evidence-based policymaking, enabling stakeholders to navigate a rapidly changing innovation and creative landscape.  He has strengthened WIPO’s core global IP services, making them faster, more efficient and digitally driven. He has also positioned WIPO as the leading global forum of AI and IP issues, driving international dialogue and building frameworks that help the IP system keep pace with technological change.  He has worked to build WIPO itself into a financially sound, digitally capable, people-centered organization.  DG Tang is a former senior government leader from Singapore. He is an avid jazz pianist and has written a book on the history and culture of tea.

Ningling Wang has over 25 years of experience in various intellectual property fields. Her practice involves patent prosecution, opinions, due diligence, client counseling, licensing, and patent litigation in the areas of chemicals, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, semiconductor materials, 3D printing, and nanotechnology. Ningling has extensive experience working with multinational and Chinese companies, providing legal advice on IP portfolio management, due diligence, licensing, litigation, and trade secret protection and enforcement. She has been involved in various cases before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and U.S. district courts.
